Taking Action

From June through October on Governors Island, the Climate Museum presents Taking Action, an exhibition inspired by youth leadership on climate, inviting visitors to explore interactive installations to learn about clean energy and other proven mitigation strategies, as well as the main impediments to our transition to a carbon-free economy and culture. The new wave of leadership urges us all to make a fresh start in our approach to the crisis, and at the end of the exhibition, visitors encounter a direct call to action, choosing different steps toward breaking the climate silence and advancing climate progress.

Taking Action invites visitors of all ages to recognize our collective potential in the fight against climate change and to accept our roles as engaged citizens and active advocates for a better future. It promotes awareness of existing solutions and reminds viewers that our actions aggregate to create progress toward a new, more sustainable, more just future. By starting from the standpoint of youth, the exhibition emphasizes the intergenerational injustice that distorts our current economy and culture, and honors the moral clarity of the young voices opening up the space for a fundamental renewal of our commitment to humanity and civilization.

Taking Action open hours are as follows:

  • Friday: 11:00am - 5:30pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11:00am - 6:30pm

If you are interested in scheduling a tour outside of these hours, please reach out to us before September 16.

Taking Action is located on Governor's Island in Nolan Park, House 18. View the ferry schedule to plan your visit.

The Climate Museum is a nonprofit organization in New York City and the first museum dedicated to climate change and climate solutions in the United States. By inviting people from all walks of life into the conversation and building community around solutions, The Climate Museum is catalyzing a cultural transformation around climate. Transcending traditional disciplinary and societal boundaries, the Museum brings people together to learn about the problem, grieve what has been lost, actively engage with solutions, and join the fight for a brighter future.

This event is part of the Youth and Climate Activism program of Climate Week NYC.
