The Possible Amazon initiative, a partnership among Arapyaú Institute, Global Compact Network Brazil, Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture, Sistema B, Brazilian World Business Council for Sustainable Development (Cebds) and Ethos Institute was launched at Climate Week NY 2019 as a call to discuss concrete science-based proposals for sustainable development of the Amazon on the road to COP-25 and beyond.
10 Corporate Principles for a Sustainable Amazon
Through a collaborative construction with companies, academy, governments and civil society, the initiative mapped the main challenges faced by companies in their operations in the Amazon region, identified good practice business cases and proposed a final guide with 10 principles for a sustainable development on the region. The document intends to be a guideline for companies wishing to operate in a more sustainable way in the Amazon region, and it is ideally used to underpin the design of strategic planning, and exercise project prioritization so that they have more positive impacts on top of the productive chains. The goal is also to inspire more companies and show that, yes, there is a Possible Amazon that aligns production and conservation, guided by increasingly sustainable practices.
The event marks 1 year of the initiative and the international launch of the guide. Join this debate!
