Human Impacts Institute

human impacts

Founded in 2011, the Human Impacts Institute’s mission is to use arts and culture to inspire environmental action for social good. We envision a world in which communities are active agents of social and environmental change. We are action-oriented, and our passion is to help people make a difference, in their own unique way. We know there’s a gap between knowing, understanding, and taking action. Our solution to closing this gap is simple: We help people of diverse ages and backgrounds personally connect to the most pressing environmental issues of our times, and give them the tools needed to take positive, long-term actions.

We believe our environment is not separate from our society, and that healthy communities, stable economies, and social equity cannot exist without environmental well-being. In an effort to inspire us to think more critically about our actions and their impacts, our Creative Climate Awards (CCA) program uses the arts and creativity to share knowledge, broaden the climate conversation, educate, and incite action.

This annual series of events showcase artists creating climate-inspired, public works. Over the last decade, CCA has showcased climate-inspired artwork from around the globe, including 194 artists from 31 countries and reached over 200,000 audience members. This year’s Creative Climate Awards are focused on the intersection between health and climate change. We currently have an international open call for filmmakers which you can learn more about on our website.
